ArtemisHHC
A New Approach to Diver-Controlled ROV and Drone Operations
Developed
for defence, security, and specialist commercial applications, ArtemisHHC
combines diver navigation, mission planning, and vehicle control into a compact
handheld system built for real-world operational environments.

As remotely operated and autonomous vehicles become increasingly central to modern maritime missions, operators now require more effective ways to pilot them whilst underwater. ArtemisHHC was developed to meet that demand through a vehicle-agnostic system supporting a wide range of ROVs and aerial drones.
Designed With The Operator In Mind
Engineered to optimise operational efficiency, ArtemisHHC brings together navigation, mission management and vehicle control into a single, intuitive system. The compact handheld console features ergonomic dual-joystick controls, and ten button interface designed to support streamlined, glove-friendly operation in low visibility conditions.

Vehicle data, sensor outputs, and positional information can all be displayed directly on the console, giving divers complete situational awareness, whilst acoustic messaging capability ensures reliable communication with surface operators.
Mission planning and post-dive review tools support efficient deployment, debriefing, and operational analysis.
One Interface, Multiple Platforms
Early ArtemisHHC development and initial testing was carried out using the Blueye X3 ROV platform, with its compact design and responsive handling making it a strong pairing for the handheld controller. While ArtemisHHC development has been closely supported through integration with the Blueye X3, the console has been designed with an open architecture capable of supporting a broad range of underwater ROVs and aerial drones.

This vehicle-agnostic approach allows operators to deploy ArtemisHHC alongside existing assets, supporting mission flexibility across inspection, reconnaissance, security, and wider maritime operations.
For aerial drone operations, ArtemisHHC also supports communications float integration, extending operational capability beyond the underwater environment when required.
